Golden orange and yellow skylight breaks over the top of the tree line. From a distance you can almost hear the angler hooting and hollering as a hefty silver bomber rips through the turquoise river, caught on a Brad’s Magnum Wiggler.
The guide rows the boat in an effort to keep him still while he fights this silver behemoth to the boat. It’s now that plans of a brown-sugar-covered fillet on the barbecue start to formulate in the angler’s mind.
It is silver salmon season on the Kenai River as pictured by Alaskan outdoor artist Scott Thompson, this year’s limited edition print for Fish Alaska, “Silver and Gold.” Available either as a gicleé print or poster, this annual print will make a stunning art display in your home or office and brings you back to the memories that make every dollar and every effort spent towards fishing in Alaska worth it.
Check out Scott Thompson’s website, www.scottthompsonart.com, for information on how to purchase and to see Scott’s other Alaskan outdoor artwork. For an overview of the artist’s history and some of his work, see the April 2009 issue of Fish Alaska.
