The weather got us yesterday and kept us from getting the multispecies we were headed out for. The last few days have been interesting to say the least. We’ve had some not so nice weather, rescheduling, and combining groups just to make these trips happen. The outcome has been good, but not the way we like for things to go. We would like to thank those clients who have been patient and understanding of how things can go when the weather isn’t the greatest! Captain Dan’s first overnight trip of the season was a success! Deckhands Nate and Daniel had their work cut out for them for sure! Nice fat halibut, a few yelloweye and plenty of rockfish. Remember, overnights are 2 days worth of fish. Everyone caught their 2 overs and 2 unders. Captain Jesse slayed the fish with his group as well. Families and friends making memories and some earning their bragging rights. What a great way for all the guys to spend Father’s Day!

Man what a day. Today was a little bit rough, but we managed to still get some fish on the deck. We had a group of troopers today willing to stick it out until we caught our limit. Kings were not hitting the lines today, so we went out for some other species.

We were able to take a larger group out today on the Game Changer. Little bit of rough water, but still managed to catch our limit of halibut as well as the biggest king salmon we’ve got this season so far. Great group today!
First king of the day ends up being one of the biggest we’ve ever had on the boat. What makes it even better is that this is the first king this guy has ever caught! What a great way to break him in!
Another successful trip with Dan & Jesse paired together! Limit of halibut and got four kings. Ruff water in the inlet blowing 20mph from the north and 4-6ft seas stacked but salmon trolling area was nice. From ruff to calm water there clients had a blast!

Effectively immediately, regulations are revised for halibut sport fishing from charter vessels in International Pacific Halibut Commission regulatory area 3A (Southcentral Alaska).
The revised regulations are as follows:
Charter vessel anglers may keep one fish of any size per day and one fish that is no more than 32 inches in length.
Charter vessel anglers are not subject to an annual limit on the number of halibut they retain. Anglers are no longer required to record halibut caught on charter vessel fishing trips in Area 3A on the back of the fishing license or a harvest record card.
Charter vessel anglers may catch and retain halibut on all days of the week.
These revised regulations will remain in effect through the 2020 fishing season.The final rule that implements these regulations is forthcoming and will be published in the Federal Register. In addition to these revised regulations, all other halibut sport fishing regulations remain unchanged.

Anchor River and Deep Creek Closed to Sport Fishing
King Salmon Restrictions in the Cook Inlet Saltwaters
(Homer) – In favor of protecting returning king salmon and ensuring sport fishing opportunities in the future, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is closing sport fishing for king salmon, including catch-and-release, in the Cook Inlet saltwaters north of the latitude of Bluff Point (59° 40.00′ N. lat.) and within one mile of shore. This regulatory change is effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, June 3 through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
“So far this season, the king salmon counts at our monitoring locations throughout Cook Inlet have been below average. ADF&G is managing this fishery conservatively to minimize the harvest of local stocks,” stated Area Management Biologist Mike Booz. “Anglers will still be able to target king salmon in lower Cook Inlet since there are no restrictions to the summer saltwater fishery south of Bluff Point, which is mostly composed of nonlocal feeder king salmon stocks.”
In conjunction with this restriction, Emergency Order 2-KS-7-15-20 closes the Anchor River and Deep Creek drainages to all sport fishing from June 3 through July 15, 2020. Please review the emergency orders in their entirety.
