Fly-Out Bristol Bay Fishing Lodge • Guided Salmon & Trout Fly Fishing
Private Guest Cabins • Dining Hall & Full Bar

Angler’s Alibi is located in the heart of breathtaking Bristol Bay on the Alagnak River, one of the five major rivers that create this world-renowned fishery.

In Bristol Bay, approximately 280 miles southwest of Anchorage and at the top of the Aleutian island chain, all five species of Pacific salmon, as well as rainbow trout, grayling, and char, thrive in numbers that far exceed those of any other region in the state. The lodge’s prime position on the Alagnak River offers solid returns of all five Pacific salmon species, along with access to the largest rainbow trout in the state via a short fly-out to the famed Kvichak and Naknek rivers.

The lodge features six guest cabins accommodating double occupancy, each with en-suite full bathrooms. The main lodge offers dining facilities complete with a full bar, and the food program rivals those of other lodges at significantly higher price points. Guests enjoy incredible Wi-Fi, enabling them to stay connected as if they weren’t “off the grid.” Angler’s Alibi Lodge includes as many amenities as possible, such as local bed tax, park service fees, and all fishing gear, striving to minimize cost and maximize adventure.

Sitting right in the middle of tidewater, Angler’s Alibi allows for easy targeting of salmon on days when flying isn’t possible. Additionally, guests can embark on short jet boat rides upriver to fish for trout and grayling in the fabled “braids” of the Alagnak. This accessibility makes Angler’s Alibi one of the best fly-out lodge home bases in the state. Other lodges may be situated on lakes or rivers with significantly less “fishability” than the Alagnak, which can lead to days spent fishing instead of playing cards or reading in cabins during inclement weather.

While sockeye salmon serve as the main food source for local trout, the other four salmon species contribute to the massive biomass of protein that sustains the large quantities and sizes of trophy trout throughout the Alagnak River system. Biologists claim that the Alagnak River boasts one of the largest diversities of salmon in any river system or major lakes in Bristol Bay. Above the Nonvianuk and Kukaklek lakes lie numerous mountain streams and creeks that host millions of spawning sockeye salmon each summer. Here, thousands of rainbow trout gorge on the eggs and carcasses of dying salmon.

Fabled rivers like the Moraine, Battle, Little Ku, and Kulik Rivers have incredible populations of trout and are part of the Alagnak River system. These world-class fisheries are just a short flight upriver from the lodge. The Alagnak River also supports a resident population of rainbow trout that depends on the yearly return of king, chum, pink, and silver salmon for sustenance. The remarkable number of returning salmon, combined with the high density of rainbow trout, solidifies the Alagnak River system’s reputation as the undisputed gem of the Bristol Bay region.

Beyond just salmon, trout, char, and grayling, the Alagnak River is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, including brown bears, moose, eagles, waterfowl, and numerous bird species. This diversity attracts wildlife viewers and photographers from around the world each year.
