Pacific Salmon Flyfishing Grand Slam by George Krumm

There are not many single rivers in Alaska where you have a shot at catching all five species of salmon in one day—on any kind of gear—let alone flyfishing. Not only are there few places to do it, but the window of opportunity is short. Togiak River Lodge is one of those very special places where the Pacific Salmon Grand Slam is possible, even for fly anglers. George Krumm did it once during a 5-day trip last August. His cousin, Tom Krumm, did it twice during the trip!

Perhaps the most effective fly technique for many of our small rivers and streams is nymphing.

Joe Jackson says, “…the point of these flyfishing hacks is to encourage you to get more out of the sport. If used correctly, I think they can make you a better angler, too.”
